It’s been said many times, but who really gets to prove the belief among Masons that ” Masonry is truly a global brotherhood “?
Recently, our #421 Secretary Gustavo DePaula visited his home country lodge in Brazil and was received with the kind of brotherly love and friendship that makes a Mason’s heart beat stronger and demonstrates what Masonry truly is meant to be.
After visiting his hometown lodge, Gustavo emailed his 421 brothers to say:
“To my brothers from Carmel Lodge No. 421 – words cannot describe what I witnessed tonight. Our Brazilian brothers from Loja União e Justiça No. 311 received me with open arms and I am beyond ecstatic! I hope I have enough notes, videos, pictures and memories that will do this visit justice! So many stories and the beautiful plate they presented us with!!! I cannot wait to tell you all about my visit! So proud to belong to our Lodge and to have shared information about our Lodge!!!”
Brother Gustavo presented an honorary plaque from #421 to the Brazilian lodge and received a beautiful one in return. In short, Brother Gustavo was blown away by the evenings events and will write a story about it later to be featured on our Facebook page, website, and other exciting places.
Gustavo also visited another lodge nearby his hometown – Sons of Hiram #130. Here is what he had to say about that lodge visit…
“On the eve of my departure, I had the privilege of visiting another Lodge here in Brazil, escorted by brother Dario, delegate of Grand Lodge of São Paulo and Past Master of Sons of Hiram #130. I cannot wait to share with my Carmel Lodge No.421 brothers the many pictures and videos so you can have a virtual tour of their beautiful facility!”
…Global Brotherhood indeed! A few years ago, #421 Master Mason Teo Schizas presented a plaque to his hometown lodge in Athens Greece. Below is Brother Teo’s description of that event:
” I was very honored to visit in April the Greek Lodge of Athens Greece as a representative of the Carmel 421 lodge of Indiana.I was presented with the symbolic gift of a plaque made by our lodge to our Greek brothers . I was very happy that for the first time I had the opportunity to attend to a lodge meeting among Greeks and also be able to hear the ritual performed in Greek language that also is my mother language . I noticed with excitement the differences to the rituals but also received very warmly the welcoming of our Greek brothers to the masonic meeting of the lodge of Athens named “Socrates” .
I brought back the regards and greetings to our lodge from The Grand Secretary of the Grande Lodge of Athens Mr. Aetos Tzifakis , the Worshipful master of the lodge Socrates and also from all the Wardens and members of the lodge.
I feel lucky that I had this opportunity and i felt the brotherly love from the masonic organization of Athens and add another step on one hand to my masonic education and path of life and on the other hand to the social bonds of our Carmel 421 lodge ” .
With Brotherly love ,
